science-softCon uv/vis+ spectra data base; www.uv-spectra.de, (C) science-softcon 2012 Substance: thiophosgene Other Names: carbon chlorosulfide; thiocarbonyl chloride Formula: CCl2S CAS-No.: 463-71-8 Study: photodissociation Authors: G. S. Ondrey, R. Bersohn Title: The photodissociation of thiophosgene at 248 nm Journal/Source: J. Chem. Phys., 79, 175-178, (1983); http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/1.445552 Data: (diagram, table, disk): Energy/Wavelength range: 248 nm Resolution: Temperature: Temperature dependence: Pressure/Concentration: Phase: pH: Comments: A pulsed molecular beam of thiophosgene was photodissociated at 248 nm. The detection of CSCl and Cl2 fragments formed under collision free conditions is evidence for two decomposition pathways: (a) CSCl2 --> CSCl+Cl (b) CSCl2 --> CS(X1Sigma)+Cl2. An estimate for the quantum yield for (a) is calculated to be 0.8±0.1. Author to whom correspondence should be addressed: (e-mail address):
