Miller, D. Olejnik Title: Photolysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water Journal/Source: Water Research, 35 (1), 233-243, (2001); http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S0043-1354(00)00230-X Data: table, diagram Energy/Wavelength range: 200 - 400 nm Resolution: Temperature: 281 - 315 K Temperature dependence: Pressure/Concentration: Phase: in solution (50/50 vol. water/methanol) pH: 6.8 Comments: The decomposition of benzo[a]pyrene (BAP), chrysene (CHR) and fluorene (FLU) in an aqueous solution by means of photolysis has been studied. The main bands appear in the range 235 - 305 nm with the maximum at 296 nm, epsilon = 67000 M-1 cm-1 and at longer wavelengths in the range 320 - 410 nm with the maximum at 383 nm, epsilon = 31000 M-1 cm-1. Quantum yields of the photolytic decomposition of BAP, CHR and FLU were determined and equal 0.014, 0.0031 and 0.0038, respectively.
