science-softCon uv/vis+ spectra data base; www.uv-spectra.de, (C) science-softCon 2019 Substance: chloropicrin Other Names: trichloronitromethane Formula: CCl3NO2 CAS-No.: 76-06-2 Study: uv spectrum, photolysis, quantum yields Authors: T. Vera, A. Munoz, M. Ródenas, M. Vázquez, A. Mellouki, J. Treacy, I. Al Mulla, H. Sidebottom Title: Photolysis of Trichloronitromethane (Chloropicrin) under Atmospheric Conditions Journal/Source: Zeitschrift für Physikalische Chemie, 224 (7-8), 1039-1057, (2010); doi: 10.1524/zpch.2010.6140 Data: diagram, table Energy/Wavelength range: 260 - 370 nm Resolution: Temperature: 298 ± 5 K Temperature dependence: no Pressure/Concentration: Phase: gas pH: Comments: Absorption cross-sections for chloropicrin were determined over the wavelength range 260-370 nm. The maximum value determined in this work for the absorption cross-section of CCl3NO2 is sigma = (1.67±0.20) x 10-19 cm2 molecule-1 at 275 nm. Photolysis of chloropicrin in air or nitrogen gave phosgene as the major carbon-containing product with a yield close to unity based on the loss of chloropicrin.
