Chillier, B.M. Stone, F. Salama, L.J. Allamandola Title: First detection of an ultraviolet transition in an ionized polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon Journal/Source: J. Chem. Phys., 111, 449 - 451, (1999); DOI:10.1063/1.479323 Data: diagram Energy/Wavelength range: ~ 500 - 800 nm Resolution: ~ 0.3 nm Temperature: Temperature dependence: Pressure/Concentration: Phase: pH: Comments: Compared to the neutral band peaks, which fall at 241 +- 0.3 nm and 248 +- 0.3 nm, the ion peaks are redshifted by 510 and 355 cm-1, respectively. The strongest absorption band of the C20H12 cation falls at 535 +- 0.3 nm. The transition, which falls at 730 nm and is considerably weaker, shows substructure (728, 733 and minor features).
