Together with my friend Dr. Andreas Noelle, the owner of the company
“Science-soft-Con” in Maintal - near Hanau: Further work on the UV / VIS
spectra + database - as spokesmen of their Science Advisory Group (SAG) and
co-editor of the 9th CD spectra. http://www.science-softcon.de/
2)
Further work on the book about the existential and physical time together with
Prof. Dr. Hans Hübner, theologian emeritus of the University of Göttingen, had
to be unfortunately canceled due to his severe illness.
3)
Continuation of the work
as unsalaried first Chairman of the
Board of CM (Civilisations Matter eV): www.cm-germany.org
and gkh@cm-germany.org
. CM has evolved for me to a positive, but time-consuming challenge,
particularly the drinking water project "CM DWD120 +", the founding of
the “CM-daughter companies”, and the "Start
Funding” problems. This unfortunately allocates too little time for
other activities. In the last phone call with my late good old friend Otto Marx
- early June - he gave highly recommended not only to often think of my special
"recipe for a short break" against anticipatory anxiety and to
practice it, but also to continue my - currently somewhat neglected – two
major topics >>Time and Laughter<< and to also discuss them
with friends.

[1] Ars viivendi and ars moriendi: The art of living and the art of dying
2009
1) The family Hartmann bemoaned the death of my
parents. My father Helmut (94) died quietly on December 28th 2008 at home and
my mother Anneliese (91) died quietly on February 2nd, 2009 also at home – as
they both desired. In September/October
2008 they suddenly needed home care and
at that time I was appointed
custodian by the district court of Eschwege. It involved a lot of frustrating
bureaucracy. In our special case it
could be demonstrated, that an outpatient care can succeed only if an
appropriate nursing and supervision are both available. Here, a private
organized socially very complex, technically skilled, flexible and motivated
(interdisciplinary, intergenerational) team cooperated very and friendly and
successfully despite considerable skeptical estimates from outside, e.g. the
hospital. The way in which my father
and my mother peacefully died at home has all the directly involved persons
given a hint of a modern "Ars
moriendi". The latter was in the late medieval times practiced as the “art
of good dying”. It was at the same time inseparable from an “ars viviendi”,
i.e. an art to live - despite extremely serious problems in the medieval
period.Today this is hardly known in our western societies. A report in German
is available from the author.
2) Continuation of the honorary scientific
advisor-activity begun in the year 2003 in co-operation with my friend Dr.
Andreas Noelle, the owner of the company science-softCon in Maintal - near Hanau. My main activity
there: Consulting the UV / VIS+ Spectra data base as the speaker of its Science
Advisory Group (SAG).
3) Writing a book on existential and physical time together with Prof. Dr. Hans Hübner
,emeritus theologian of the University Goettingen.
4) In August 2009
I agreed to work as honorary trustee of the CM Civilisations Matter
Society - International Society for Intercultural Dialogue e.V., in Berlin http://www.cm-germany.org . In October I was nominated as chairman of the
trustees. CM is a non-profit NGO and is
established as an independent institution. It brings together multiplicators
from Europe and other regions of the world. CM emphasizes ethics,
interdisciplinary exchange and supporting self-help projects in
conflict regions. Major goal: Exploring what unifies
us in our diversity, learning to understand diversity and embarking on the road
to responsible and mindful interaction in the 21st century. See also : http://www.sure-tec.com
